It was fashions biggest night of the year, with the Met Gala 2019 taking place on Monday in New York’s iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art. The theme; Camp: Notes on Fashion based on Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay ‘Notes on Camp.’ As per, the night did not disappoint and delivered some of the most incredible fashion we could have wished for.
So here are some our favourite looks from the night
We can’t mention the Met Gala and not include the reigning queen of extravagance, Lady Gaga. She 100% took this theme and ran with it! Susan Sontag in her essay ‘Notes on Camp’ describes camp as being a reason to dethrone serious. ‘Camp is playful, anti serious, more precisely, camp involves a new complex relation to ‘the serious.’ One can be serious about the frivolous and frivolous about the serious.’
Arriving in a bellowing pink ball gown by Brandon Maxwell, Lady Gaga playfully revealed, in a Russian doll like performance a further three (yes THREE!!!) more outfits underneath!
All eyes were on us with Ezra Miller’s eye popping Met Gala look. The actor stepped onto the pink carpet wearing a Burberry suit accompanied with a jewel corset, train and white cape, but it was his face that had us in a spin! The Fantastic Beast actor had adorned his face in eyes that were so lifelike that it was a.) hard to figure out which were his real eyes and b.) hard not to fall over from dizziness
‘I would define camp as an expression of your most outrageous.’ Cara Delevingne did not disappoint, her rainbow theme was a nod to the LGBT flag with the Pride inspired stripes being completed with a pair of multicoloured platform heels and a Swarovski cane.
Kendal and Kylie Jenner
The girls certainly did their homework this year! Arriving in brightly coloured feathered gowns, Kendal looked every inch the Victoria Secret model she is, with her bright orange feathered wings, while Kylie went the extra mile matching her lavender wig to the colour of her dress.
Vogue Editor-in-Chief and chair of the Met Gala since 1995, Anna Wintour looked stunning in an elegant, highly embellished Chanel floor length gown which was in fact the last Chanel dress Karl Lagerfeld designed before sadly passing away earlier this year.

It was fashion’s biggest night of the year, with the Met Gala 2018 taking place on Monday in New York’s iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art. The theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
When it comes to red carpet moments it is usually all about the dress, but at last nights Met Gala it was all about our favourite thing……the ACCESSORIES!
So, here are some of our favourite looks.
This was by far our favourite look of the night! Wearing a Versace gown featuring regal embroidery, a bejewelled bodice and full skirt, Blake Lively accessorized with over $2 million (yes $2 million!!!) worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewellery including our favourite accessory, a custom made halo with over 100 carats of nude champagne diamonds….WOW!! She finished her look with a pair of 30 carat Colombian emerald and diamond earrings (as you do!) an array of gold bracelets, 3 diamond and ruby rings and a custom Seamless Sacred Heart clutch by the talented accessory designer Judith Leiber, a favourite among the celebrities on the night with Madonna and Rihanna also carrying her designs!
Rosie Huntington Whitely
Looking like she came straight from Heaven, RHW wore a Ralph Lauren gown that many said resembled a stained glass window, but it was her gold circular halo that took our breath away.
That hair!!!! Wearing a gold ensemble from H&M it was Jasmine Saunders rose studded braid that took centre stage.
Lily Collins head piece was gracefully striking but with an edgy twist. She left no detail unturned as she stunned in a Givenchy Spring 2018 couture gown and accented her glitter rimmed eyes with a red teardrop.
Meghan Markle’s bestie looked stunning in a bejewelled head and neck covering which stood out against her ‘cardinal red’ Ralph Lauren look. We wonder what she will wear to the wedding?!
Gigi Hadid looked stunning in her Versace dress which saw multi-coloured panels woven together to represent shards of glass, just like that in a stained glass window. She kept her accessories simple with a bold yellow diamond earring and gold hair pins
Kate Bosworth paid full homage to this year’s theme giving us pure Virgin Mary vibes in her tulle gown and veil by Oscar de la Renta designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. Look at the detail on that veil!!
She may be Mother of Dragons in Game of Thrones but she was certainly Queen of the red carpet at last night’s Met Gala. Wearing a statement gold crown with floral detailing her drop earrings were complimented perfectly by her sweeping chignon.
